I was just going through my usual link building plan and all of a sudden I realized that I haven’t put my profile pic on Hubpages. After browsing a few of my pics, I finally ended up putting up none and thought I would first create a hub and take care of the pic later. It was while writing Hub that this idea struck my mind.
Most of the website owners who indulge in link building and SEO, maintain an account on Social and Article sites. And most of these sites allow us to put up our display pics or profile pics. With the number of people buying and using a smart phone increasing, you have a large pool of customers to tap in. Most of these customers are either using an iPhone, an android, a BB, a Windows phone or a symbian and almost all of them must be having a QR Code Reader pre-installed or downloaded and installed from a market. And since this is a new technology, most of them must be too curious to try it out and they will try it on any QR code they can find. This is where your QR code will come into action. A QR code when placed as a profile pic will surely attract the customer due to its abstract looks and in most cases, will be successful in asking the customer to scan it and visit the URL (all out of curiosity). So an article you wrote thinking that it will get you customers from 2 or rarely 3 links in a 400 word article will bring some hits from your profile pic too which was being wasted earlier.
Similar trick can be used for forum posting and blog commenting. For forum posting, we will be again using the QR code as display pic. While for Blog commenting, we will use the QR code to make a gravatar which is used by wordpress sites.
