We have already blogged about the Commercial version of the Akash Tablet which will be hitting the market by the end of November. If you missed that blogpost, you can read it here.
As far as buying an Aakash Tablet is concerned here it is how you will get it.
1) Commercial Version or the Ubislate.
This version of Akash will have more features than the one which will be subsidized by the government. This tablet will have a provision for inserting a SIM card and using it as a Phone (which is absent in Akash). The tablet should also have a Camera (I am not sure about it). Ubislate will be available in market by the end of November, 2011 at a price of mere Rs. 2999. Expect it to be available on major electronic and mobile shops and showrooms in India.
2) Government Subsidized Akash Tablet
The second version or the much hyped version of the tablet is under production and will be distributed in whole of the country under a certain program. As told by the Datawind representative, Government will first be putting 3000 tablets in every state at a price of Rs 2250. These tablets will be made available to students soon. Although we are still unsure about the schools and colleges the tablet will debut in. In total, there will be 1 Lak Akashs distributed in whole of India under this plan. After these tablets have been tested and reviewed by the students and if the field testing proves to be a success, production will start on a major scale (batches of millions). Thus, if you are looking forward to buy the subsidized version of the tablet, you will have to wait for next 6,7 months before you can buy one.
