The android-based smart phone market is already full to the brim and it’s now time probably for the tablet market to get saturated. The computer giant HCL has launched its ME X1 tablet in India in the 7 inch screen size segment. As on date there are a lot of tablet PCs available in the market from different manufacturers and have varying price tags. If you include the Akash tablet, the price range starts from 2000 bucks and upper limit is around 40,000 bucks.

The ME X1 tablet from HCL Infosystems has the following specifications:
- 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor,
- 512 RAM,
- 4 GB flash memory expandable up to 32 GB
- 7 inch display,
- Capacitative touch screen,
- Android 2.3 gingerbread OS,
- Flash player support,
- Full HD video playback support (1080p)
- 2 MP front camera for video chat
Do all these above features look refreshingly new to you? Of course not! Several companies including Reliance, Beetle and iBall have launched their own versions of tablet PCs in the Indian market does a couple of days back and all of them more or less have the same kind of specifications.
As far as the HCL ME X1 is concerned, we are not yet sure if the android platform can be upgraded. Some features that could have been included in the ME X1 are the rear facing camera, built-in 3G connectivity and GPS receiver. Of course you can connect the device to your television, but do you think that is enough to draw new users to this tablet PC?
